Pity the bears held captive for their bile | Bangkok Post: opinion


In China, Korea and some countries in Southeast Asia bears are farmed for their bile. The bile extraction is a terribly cruel process. According to Animals Asia, there are over 14,000 bears in Asia kept in bile factories. Laos and Myanmar are emerging markets, while over 1,300 bears are kept for bile extraction in South Korea. And we know there are traditional medicines here which include bear gallbladders and bear bile.
